Technical notes
Animated GIFs are in a special format called GIF89a. To create your own, start by creating each individual frame as a separate ordinary GIF file, and use software to combine the files into an animated GIF, control the animation speed, transparency, etc. There is much good info on the net as well as manyfreeware and shareware animated GIF programs for Macs, PCs, UNIX etc. Uleadmakes a popular PC program, and GifBuilder is common on the Mac. The easiestlearning process is to find an animated GIF program and use it to open some animated GIFs you already have, so you can see the individual frames.
